Il Poggione Rosso di Montalcino 2019
|Region||Italy, Tuscany, Rosso di Montalcino|
Dark soil and earth tones come together with dusty rose, crushed pomegranates and plums as the 2019 Rosso di Montalcino comes to life in the glass. While expressive with coaxing, this is quite inward today. It's silky in texture, yet salty and savory to the core with depths of tart red berry and mineral tones. Grippy tannins are left to linger, along with a coating of primary fruit. The 2019 is a powerful and structured Rosso from Il Poggione that will require cellaring to show its best. That said, it will be worth the wait.
Fresh cherry and plum flavors grace this round red, whose earth, woodsy and mineral accents add depth. Balanced and taut, with very good length. Drink now through 2025. 16,000 cases made, 5,000 cases imported.
